Traffic/Transportation Engineer
Civil 1 is seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a Traffic/Transportation Engineer for site civil engineering projects. This position includes both management and design work on projects and extensive collaboration with the civil design team. The applying individual should have experience in the processes of design and permitting in a variety of private and public market sectors, including with the CT DOT. Experience and existing relationships with CT DOT are highly recommended. Fluency in Civil3D, AutoCAD, and Land Development standards is required as this position will involve close collaboration with other members of the design and drafting team, as well as land use officials. Position Responsibilities Include:
- Design work and management of all aspects of traffic engineering projects: traffic counts, inspection & data collection for traffic signals, highway capacity and queue analysis, traffic engineering studies, traffic signal design, guide rail and safety analysis, etc.
- Construction inspection and management responsibilities including as-built plans, RFIs, design services during construction, coordination with utility companies, etc.
- Traffic Permitting – Local, State, & Federal Agencies
- Build and maintain positive client relationships in the public and private sectors
- Actively pursue new projects and clients as part of the Civil 1 Business Development plan
Qualification Requirements and Preferences:
- College graduate with minimum 3.0 GPA, 3.2 preferred
- In-Depth knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and manuals
- PE License Required, or ability to obtain PE License within 2 years
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, HCS, & Synchro
- Experience as a project manager in organizing tasks, time management, and budget control
- Experience in the writing of reports, proposals, and technical documents.
- Experience and expertise in infrastructure and development projects
- A strong record demonstrating the ability to increase professional responsibilities throughout the professional career
- Well-connected and well-respected in the marketplace, specifically with the CT DOT and past clients
- The ability to work Monday through Friday as well as occasional evening and weekend hours
