Ellis Street Commons
New Britain, CT
Ellis Street Common's is New Britain’s largest private redevelopment in half century. This long-abandoned 10-acre brownfield site, formerly a brass company built in the 1920s, will be converted into 150 loft-style condominiums.
The site required re-zoning, a phase 2 concept and the development of natural walking paths. As part of the design team, Civil 1 designed new parking and pedestrian areas, as well as site improvements at the building entrances. We upgraded the existing storm drainage systems and provided plans for a new system to add water quality features. A low-impact design for storm drainage, utilizing pervious pavers and natural plantings, all increase the project’s sustainable appeal.
