CIVIL1 is proud to announce that it recently was successful in providing civil engineering services to BNE Energy Inc.

The project led to the siting of the first wind turbines in CT as part of the state legislature’s mandate to increase the state’s reliance on alternative energy sources to 20% by 2020.

CIVIL1: Meeting the Challenge

This project posed a number of significant challenges.

Consider the following: CIVIL1 had to plan for moving a 450 ton crane up a 16% grade to site the turbine tower. On top of this tower will sit a 60 ton GE turbine turning 135- 165 foot turbine blades.

Trucks will need to bring in 20 loads of components in order to fully assemble the crane.

Together the two properties, Colebrook North, a 125-acre site, and Colebrook South, an 80-acre site, will form Connecticut’s first commercial wind farm, a $24 million project whose six turbines will have the capacity of generating up to 9.6 megawatts of electricity.

The project will also create a number of jobs for the neighboring community.

As President and Founder of CIVIL1 Civil Engineering, I can say without hesitation that these are the types of projects that we like to take on.

Our engineering staff has the experience in the field and the expertise in the office to efficiently help our clients, whether it’s brownfield site remediation, new commercial construction, multi-family communities, airports, or wind turbines.

Discover the CIVIL1 Difference

The real key to our success in working with clients is that we listen and provide superior results.

Call me today at 203-266-0778, extension 101, to discuss how CIVIL1 can meet (or exceed) your civil engineering requirements.

CIVIL1, established in 1993, offers skilled planning, effective engineering, and an impressive record of approvals of permit applications for hundreds of development projects.

Two Recent Redevelopment Projects

The key to success for our clients and local communities, alike, is our commitment to getting the project right the first time. Our team specializes in developing engineering solutions that meet the developer or owner’s needs, while fulfilling the regulatory requirements of local communities.

We use a collaborative approach to determine the true needs of the regulatory agencies, the deep concerns of neighbors, and focus on the linkages of these with the goals and desires of the owner/developer. In Connecticut and the surrounding five states CIVIL1 has the proven ability to work within a complex regulatory process while consistently maintaining excellent relationships and communications with all involved.

Our experience covers a wide rage of projects, including Brownfield redevelopments, residential communities, and industrial parks.

RiverFall Project

Currently, CIVIL1 is working in conjunction with the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and local and state representatives on the RiverFall project in Seymour, CT.

The project will transform a 4.54-acre Brownfield parcel into a mixed-used commercial/residential redevelopment and will contain 52,000 SF of new buildings. Our services include demolition plans and specifications for the existing building, a comprehensive stormwater management plan, final civil site design services for the three new buildings, and permit approvals through local, state and federal agencies.

Additionally the project is located at the confluence of the Little and Housatonic Rivers and therefore flood studies are a major component of this project.

PAL in Waterbury, CT

CIVIL1 provided civil engineering services to PAL in Waterbury for their new inner city park on Division Street.

This project has received statewide attention for the opportunity to turn brownfields to greenfields and will provide in improved quality of life for the residents in this area.

We’re sorry for the delay…”

When you hire a professional civil engineering firm, part of what you are paying for is their ability to meet the demands of your project. If they can’t handle the job, they simply shouldn’t take it.

You will never hear this from my firm.

Have you ever had to rush a set of designs back to your civil engineering firm because you noticed an error or omission just hours before a public hearing on your building project?

You’ll never receive inaccurate or incomplete plans, if you work with my firm. CIVIL1 is known for precision work. We get things done right, the first time.

You have enough to worry about with a building or zoning committee and you don’t need to wonder if your civil engineer made a mistake on the plans for your project right before you meet with the local officials who will ultimately decide if you have approval to move forward.

My firm will never let you down.

Just as importantly, our performance doesn’t stop at the doors to the hearing room.

We have a reputation for working with commissions and boards to ensure that your project gets through the approval stage smoothly. We are always there to support our clients and we’ve done our homework in advance to ensure that you are fully represented.

Historically the trend in the engineering industry was to provide a one-stop shop that could meet any client’s needs.

That sounds great, right?

Eliminating Cost Overruns

Every time you work with a one-stop firm, you are paying for the overhead of all those other engineers YOU DON’T NEED for your project.

And remember to add in extra administrative costs and the other significant overhead required by most firms to support all those people your project does not need, and you can begin to image where cost overruns come from.

At CIVIL1, we have taken a different approach that has proven to save our clients money.

We can scale our services to meet any client’s needs because we have the expertise to select the best engineers in the New York Tri-State area, as well as throughout New England. We can bring in the right engineers to do the job, no matter what your needs are, at highly competitive rates.
